Does adding your newsletter to these lists help? Yes, to some degree. I did notice a huge increase of new subscriptions after spending a couple of hours registering (one week), in particular after my announcement message went out on the NEW-LIST@LISTSERV.NODAK.EDU list. I can't say I'm continually flooded with new subscriptions from these sources, but every little helps.
